D&L Deal 2008 Thunevin-Calvet Cuvée Constance- 90 Points Wine Advocate

The Wine Advocate liked this wine a lot and so do I! This Grenache-Carignan blend from Southern France has an appealing nose of crushed, brambly raspberry, ripe red cherry, tomato leaf, and cocoa powder, with underlying black cherry, black pepper, and soil. The palate is luscious but balanced, with supporting superfine tannins. This is serious wine at a very reasonable price. Really, it drinks like a solid $20 bottle. It's ripe and accessible yet manages to hold on to a little refinement and not be overblown. I see this wine pleasing consumers with a range of tastes. (Doug Schulman)
